Born in Campinas, SP, Brazil.
Ana Calzavara graduated from Arts Institute of State University of Campinas, Sao Paulo, with a degree in Bachelor of Fine Arts, did a Post-Graduate course (Painting) at Byam Shaw School of Art, London; obtained a master’s degree in Visual Poetics from Communication & Art School at Sao Paulo University (USP) and she is a PhD in Fine Arts (Visual Poetics) at the same Institution (2012).
Calzavara was a student at Evandro Carlos Jardim's printmaking workshops at Sao Paulo Contemporary Arts Museum (MAC) as well at Lasar Segall Museum. She completed her studies on painting with Paulo Pasta, on photography with Joao Luiz Musa, and on art history with Jorge Coli, Rodrigo Naves, Leon Kossovitch and Sonia Salztein, all of them, very known and respectable professionals in brazilian art scene.
Calzavara worked as a printing assistant at State University of Campinas. She has also been working as an art teacher and giving courses and workshops since 1994. She also worked at Sao Paulo Museum of Art (MASP) as a curator assistant, producer and as an art educator.
She works with printing, painting and photography - her art works have been shown in both national and international exhibitions.
